Evanescence

Posted on April 26th, 2003

I’ve been hearing a song for a while on the radio and in residence, but I never knew who it was. The first time I heard it was in a movie, but I couldn’t remember which one for the life of me. Even when I paid attention to the DJ when they announce who it was, by the time I got home, it would have slipped my mind. Finally, I heard it again, and I wrote it down: Evanescence. The song is Bring Me To Life, from the DareDevil soundtrack and Evanescence’s debut album, Fallen. Some people would say that Evanescence is what Linkin Park with Avril Lavigne (yikes!) would sound like if they were put together; although the singer does sound like Avril, I think I’m more reminded of Jewel. But either way, it’s some really cool music. I decided to download the album on Thursday and I’ve been listening to it ever since. I found some of their older stuff, and I really like it, too. In any case, I thought that I’d share this new discovery with you.

Some good news: I haven’t been quite so bored!! Thursday, I spent time with buddies from high school. We went to this Japanese restaurant (where seemingly everything had some variety of seafood — yuck!), but I found a dish with chicken and salmon (pretty much the only seafood that I can tolerate). To my surprise, it was a series of dishes, and all of them were really good. Mmmm I’m hungry now πŸ™ Afterwards we watched a movie: The Transporter. Worst. Movie. Ever. Well, maybe not the worst, but it was awful. In the evening, we went to a hockey game (my high school’s OHL team) and that was pretty fun. Good times, good times.

I forget what I did yesterday, but I’m still here so any boredom apparently didn’t drive me to suicide. Next week I get to finish up some stuff with the people at work and arrange all of the details surrounding my summer employment… fun stuff I tell ya. Maybe I’ll get some more work done on my website or something. I dunno. I gotta find some food…

The song! Ah ha! I’ve been looking of that song for a long time now! Well, THANK YOU Justin! You saved me a lot of trouble (and my sister too). I think it’s a pretty damn good song. And next time I’ll get a better movie than the Transporter. How was I supposed to know? BTW, the Majors won game 5, and could take it all away from Ottawa in game 6 Sunday afternoon at SMC arena! Go SMC!!!

Yeah this is what we heard on the way back from the game. I finally paid attention lol πŸ™‚

No worries about the movie. It passed the time πŸ˜› But honestly, there wasn’t very much selection from that shoddy store. Oh well!

But where else can you legally rent a movie for FOUR DOLLARS (no tax) ?????!!!!
And their selection is actually just as good as Blockbuster’s.
But yes, it DOES look a little dank…
