Longer Time No Post

Posted on Friday, September 12th, 2003

Woah what happened to August?! The lack of posts suggest that I didn’t have anything to good to say during that month, nor at the beginning of this one; that, however, is not the case. I suppose it was a combination of business and apathy that contributed to this distinct decline in entries. August was a fairly reasonable month, particularly at the end: work ended, I left Toronto, and returned to Waterloo. I was much happier at the end of August than at the beginning.

Some of you may be wondering why I left for Waterloo so soon.. after all, school doesn’t start until the second week! Well, I am going to be a Don at St. Paul’s, so I had to leave early for Don training and such. That week (six days, actually) were a lot of fun where all of the Dons spent some quality time together and enjoyed each other’s company. We learned quite a bit, and I must say that I was really impressed with my Winter term Don, Kristin; one of the sessions attempted to categorize people into various attitude groups and suggests means to deal with each of the groups… I found myself in each of those groups, and she did a really wonderful job with me (and many others, I’m sure).

There are many other fond memories of Don week, but I’ll save those for another time, perhaps. I did compile a chronicle, but that’s for special eyes only πŸ™‚ Frosh Week essentially began on Sunday with all of the preparations. I was asked to become the Residence Computing Consultant – or, as the Dean of Residence suggested, the Resnet Cool Cat – for the term. So I had to go around to every computer and personally check it for network-hazardous viruses. I found a few, so I’m glad that this sort of policy was in place. But, some 58 hours of work in between helping out at Frosh Week events later, I was about ready to die… my hate for computers have reached a new high. :/

School started off quite well; I’m already ahead in a couple of classes, and everything seems to be managable this term. I do have a bit more reading than normal, but nothing extraordinary. It was really nice to be ahead so soon since I took a six hour break from everything to visit Kristin at her new place. Without going into too much detail, she is really enjoying her time there, and it was just awesome to spend some time with her.

When I got home at around 11pm, I opted not to do homework, but to work on stuff for St. Paul’s instead. Now I’m doing this instead of my readings. I think I should stop soon, though… like… now. πŸ™‚

I hope all is going well for you readers out there… God bless! πŸ˜€
