Oh So Much

Posted on Friday, September 24th, 2004

It’s been a long, long month without a post. Oh, and did I mention that it was long? So much has happened since my last post. In fact, I had to re-read that post to make sure that I had my chronology right!

Don week came and went, and I think that I developed much better relationships with the rest of the Dons. Almost all of it had been review from the year before, but the chance to spend a week with the team was great!!

Before I had a chance to sit down and relax, though, Frosh Week came pouncing on us! To be really honest, I think that we have a fantastic group of Frosh this year, and I’m really excited for the terms ahead. There is a lot of quality people in this college, and it’s really motivating me to make this term a great one. Oh, and the return of my long lost friends made this week even more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Somewhat related to this is my decision to take a large role in planning, organizing, and running the weekly Chapel service here. I was ready to give up and let it run its course, but I had a bit of a rude awakening when I was speaking with Rodney (with whom I work for Chapel): it is not for me that I would do Chapel; it’s for God and His glory. So, with that in mind, I made the choice to do whatever I could to make sure that the residents here have a great place to find faith, learn more about it, or develop it further. Now let me tell you that this was no light decision… no, not at all. I already have a very full plate, and the pressure of doing a good job (and not causing anyone to stumble) weighed heavily on my heart. But I figured that, if God really wanted me to do this, He will provide me with the strength and resources to do it. So far, it’s been really rewarding, and I have already spotted a couple of stars in the group.. but more on Chapel later; there is far too much to say in just one post!!

My involvement with the Embassy has increased tenfold (or hundredhold..) over the past few weeks. I decided to join the Embassy Student Association Executive, and I was invited to be a part of the Embassy Staff team. I also plan on continuing my roles in the Communications and Drama teams. Sooo, I can essentially kiss a lot of my free time away! But I’m fine with that because I know that this will all be a great experience for me, and I know that I am doing God’s work.

In the college, I’m a Don for the term, and I’m the Residence Computing Consultant (RCC) for that new (monstrous) graduate building. So even when I get back home, there’s lots of stuff to keep me busy. Oh boy.. the fun never stops! And to top it all off, I have a 40+ hour work week, too! Oh life is great!

Looking ahead, I’ve officially transferred out of Software Engineering!!!!! This was a long time coming, but I finally found enough reason to dispel my stubbornness and make this (major) change. I lost a year’s worth of classes.. in fact, all of the classes that I took last term didn’t transfer, but I still had to try to maintain ‘good academic standing.’ Bah. But that is all behind me, and I am very excited about my new program: Math-Business Administration!! Pray for me on this one ๐Ÿ˜‰

So there’s the summary of what’s been happening for the past little bit. I’m sure that I’ll be commenting more about some of these parts, as time permits. Do drop me a line and let me know what’s going on in your lives!! God bless!
