Woe

Posted on April 1st, 2005

Woah.

It’s final exam time, and I’m so behind! While I care, I still can’t find the motivation to get my butt in gear. Woe to exams.

Monday is the ESA’s Coffee House and, thankfully, I’ve had a lot of help in getting this off the ground! There’s a good number of talent performing, and then there’s me. I finally gave into the pressure to play, and I’m going to try doing a small solo set. Everyone says that I’ll be good. Pssh. This is what concerns me: I’m tentatively scheduled to close the show.. what the heck. That’s certainly not a case of “best for last.” Woe to me.

And on a much more serious note, the Pope’s health has been ailing for several weeks and, just recently, has taken another turn for the worse. There is speculation that he will pass away in the near future. Having been raised a Catholic, I have had a great opportunity to see the wonderful works that this pontiff has done, and it would be a tragic loss to the Catholic Church if he were to die. I really hope that he will be able to pull through. Woe to diseases.

But he’s going to die eventually – and if he’s in so much pain, wouldn’t it just be better for him to go be with Jesus? If he’s this ill, I doubt he’s doing much concretely for the church anymore anyways. I don’t mean to be irreverant but those are my thoughts. I think it’s time to accept his age and illness and whatever comes next.

I suppose. But his very distinguished ability to inspire people would be sorely missed. He was a fantastic representative of the Catholic Church and, if he were to pass away, he would leave a gaping hole in the efforts of the Church to become more ecumenical and unified.

I think that his presence alone would be sufficient to provide inspiration and motivation to a lot of people around the world. It’d be a hard blow to a lot of devout Catholics to see him go.

Anyhow, I’m getting pressured to leave to go to Bomber… I hope that you have a great weekend in Ottawa 🙂 See ya Monday.
