Sky High

Posted on August 25th, 2005

So tonight, I committed to going to British Columbia over most of the Christmas holidays. The plan is to go to Panorama (a resort on the Rockies) for eight days and snowboard my brains out with friends from St. Paul’s.

I know, I know. I’ve lost it. Here I am, strapped for cash as it is, and I’m going to BC for a week! The two questions that I think many of you may be asking are “WHY?!” and “HOW?!”

Why: I’m 21. I’m young (sort of) and not tied down to a job or anything. This is a prime opportunity to do this sort of thing in life. Granted, even when I am tied down to a job or whatever, I’d still like to relax and have fun 🙂 But I think you know what I mean. Besides, after three straight terms of school, I need to unwind a bit or something. Furthermore, this is one of the things that I’ve been dreaming of doing for years and years. With free accomodation (thanks, Keith’s parents!), now is a pretty good time to do it.

How: Income tax refund! So while my bank account is not looking overly happy, there will not be any noticeable dent in it (in the long term) because of this little adventure. Hopefully that cheque comes in sooner rather than later!

So, even with this purchase, I’m still looking at finding a good guitar. I don’t think I’m thinking as high-end as I had originally planned, mostly because I want to be able to take it around and play it wherever without much regard to preserving it’s condition. If I get a crazy high-end guitar, I’d be too paranoid to take it out of the case. Am I crazy?

I’ll just add that, today, I had my first conversation with KAT in like a bajillion years. It was great to hear about her time at camp and to get a couple of things straightened out before she moves in next month. Huzzah!
