Close (But No Cigar)

Posted on Saturday, August 20th, 2005

Who smokes cigars anyways? Gross.

Anyhow, things are really changing around here, or are on the verge of change, and I’m getting pretty pumped about it. (Aside: I was going to say that I was “getting pretty stoked about it”, but then I realized that “stoked” is not something that I would normally say.)

Jasmine’s wedding is happening in about a week’s time and that’s been something to which I’ve been looking forward for ages! I still have to get a stinkin’ present thingy though. Oh if I only had a car… Anyhow, it’s a really big day for her and, as a casual acquaintance of hers, I’m getting pretty excited for her! What’s also exciting is that she’s moving to Ottawa! (And by also exciting, I really mean crappy.)

I’m also getting some new roommates in a matter of weeks! Kat and Keith (Little) will be moving in and, from what I’m told, they’re crazy clean freaks. So I’m looking forward to that change (while not looking forward to the possibility of people thinking that Kat and I are going out or whatever).

Work on the Embassy’s website is also underway. It’s about freakin’ time that I got my butt into gear for it and I’ve been very fortunate to have a lot of support from the office. Much love to them for that! Hopefully I’ll be able to be on the ball and get everything finished on time :o

This next thing doesn’t really have anything to do with change or being close or whatever, but I’m going to put it here because I’m too lazy to make another entry. Many thanks to Nice Erin for throwing another pool party!! It was a lot of fun :) Except for people trying to get pictures of me. But I’ll forgive you this time. I suppose the peeling of my sunburn isn’t too great either. But that’s my own stupidity. Thus, props are still going to ya, Erin!

Anyhow, it’s freakishly late, so I’m headed to bed. Ta ta!

Good To Be Back!!

Well where was I?

This term’s exam period was particularly long; most last for two weeks, but this one added another week because Laurier’s classes ended earlier than Waterloo’s. It was also long because, after two straight terms of school, I was starting to get burnt out. While they have not been challenging terms per se, there was a good amount of work involved and lots of last-minute studying.

Each of my courses had a final, so I had five to write. Three of them occurred early in the period, and I had my last two this past Wednesday and Friday. I expect that some of them went very well, and I was not pleased with one of them. Overall, however, I should get a pretty good average. Maybe not quite at my goal, but pretty close *crosses fingers*.

I had an awesome opportunity to unwind this weekend because Dan Bruce invited me and some other SPUC friends up to his cottage for three days! Of course, I jumped at the chance and it was absolutely amazing! The cottage was beautiful and it rested on a large lake. The company was great, the food was great (thanks, Dan Bruce’s parents!), and the times were great.

A few random comments:
- I picked up croquinole, a game similar to curling (just without the ice and ridiculous yelling)… totally awesome!
- I also fell in love with Cranium. I went 2-0! :D
- Nobody got drunk.
- I wore a hat for the first time in freaking forever.
- I completely and utterly suck at Mario Kart 64.

My last comment deserves it own paragraph: I got sunburnt! This is unequivocal proof that I am not as Asian as people say (or hope) I am. Asian people tan. I, apparently, do not. Hence, let it be known that I am pasty white. Alright, not that far, but you know where I’m headed. Take that, Jasmine!

It turns out that the next few weeks will be very busy for me.. there are so many things to do! Here’s a brief list:
- Embassy website. This will be a full-time job of mine for the next while… :/
- Embassy coffee house (August 22 in Waterloo Park.. be there!). I’ll be performing with Sarah and that’ll mean I’ll have to practice!
- Embassy leadership reorganization. I’m working on developing one of the primary areas of ministry (campus).

(Notice a trend yet? :P )

- Erin’s pool party (SaturdayFriday woohoo!).
- Jasmine’s wedding. I’ll be performing some songs and that, too, will require practice.

That’s all I can think of off hand, but that’ll certainly keep my plate full for the next little bit. I hope that all of you are doing well and that my little haitus didn’t scare too many of you away.. drop by and say hi sometime :)

So Much To Say…

Well now that my exams are over, my self-imposed ban on journalling is over! (My ban on ICQ and MSN didn’t last the whole period; boredom prevailed…)

Anyhow, I don’t have too much time to write anything since I’m headed up to Dan Bruce’s cottage! Woohoo!

Overall, exams went well (some exceptionally so), but there were some bumpy ones too. More to follow when I get back on Monday :D
