Gobble Gobble!

Posted on October 6th, 2005

Well, I’m still alive! I had a most ridiculous week so I didn’t spare any time to blog. Some people voiced their concerns about my absence so I hope this little bit will appease them ๐Ÿ™‚

So let’s see. Last week, I got a gigantic, hairy, annoying monkey off my back: The Embassy’s website is FINALLY up! After a series of (ugly) workarounds and playing around with the server, I got the pages to load mostly properly. It’s not 100% yet (as some information is missing), but it’ll do the trick for now. Holy stinkbutt am I glad that it’s working.

Over the weekend, I made the trek to Ingersoll for the Embassy retreat. Going in, I wasn’t super excited (like I was for the last retreat)… I was mentally exhausted and I had a lot of schoolwork to do. But, all in all, it was a good time and I’m glad that I had an opportunity to meet the new leaders in a laid-back setting. I can’t believe so many people got all worked up about visiting a cheese factory (which is supposedly an attraction in Ingersoll.. yeah, go figure). The joke was on them when it turned out that there was no cheese!

My super busy week continued on Sunday; after church, I went out with a few of the Michielsens, Eli, Sarah K, and Katie for lunch. I had some delicious pad thai seafood ๐Ÿ˜€ When I got home, I cracked down on my homework until later that evening. That’s what I went out to hit up a sweet 1/2 pound burger and fries special at Morty’s for $2.99! What a steal! In fact, it was so much of a steal that I got two of them. Plus the better part of a pitcher of Waterloo Dark (which I tried for the first time). Needless to say, I was stuffed stupid. I’m such a sumo, I know.

Monday, as usual, was a full day of classes followed by a full evening of Embassy. It was the end of the Ultimate School Spirit Challenge and it came right down to the wire! I wish that I didn’t have to sit right at the front row, though; I got pegged by balloons and silly string.

Oh Tuesday. Stats and Econ and CS and Calc. Yeah, it was ridiculous.

For Wednesday, there was a lot more class. I found that I absolutely destroyed a Stats quiz. 5% of my final mark in 20 minutes? Yeah I’ll take it. I elected to skip the majority of my CS 330 class (from Hell, I tell you) and head to Bomber. It was the first time I’ve ever gone on a busy night and.. yeah.. it gets pretty busy. Plus it was Alexander Keith’s 210th birthday, so I’m sure that added to the congestion. It turns out that I knew a buttload of people there. Yay for a free glass.

Today was all CS 330. A dumbo assignment is due next week and I needed to get it done today. 10 pages of single-spaced garbage. Oh, did I mention that this class was from Hell? I was somewhat half-assed with my work habits today, so I managed to get it done at around 11pm. I guess my readings will have to wait until next week.

So, one might be wondering why I’m busting my back to get all of this stuff done. I mean, I could read at home and so on, right? Yeah, I could. Buuuuuuuut, I’m not going home!!!! Instead, I’m going to be visiting my good friend Jasmine who bailed on all of us in southwestern Ontario and fled to Ottawa with her new husband. Pretty much any other weekend would have been better (from a schoolwork point of view), but this was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. And while I could be a giant nerd and bring homework with me, I figured that I should take the long weekend off and enjoy my time. And it should be a very good time!

So Happy Thanksgiving to all! Don’t forget that Jesus is the reason for the seas… errrrr… well, actually, that’s not as wrong as I thought. Anyhow, GOBBLE GOBBLE!

Mmm, that burger was really good, both in taste and in value. Haha, I’m still impressed with what the waitress did!

    Enjoy your time visiting Jasmine.
