Pot Meet Kettle
Posted on May 6th, 2008My thoughts and prayers go out to the thousands of families who have been affected by the cyclone in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).
Something that upset me about the whole thing is how the U.S. is treating it. In a Bloomberg article, I read the following:
—————————————————–
The U.S. yesterday offered an initial $250,000 in aid to the country, which is among the world’s least-developed, while castigating its military leadership for failing to alert citizens to the approaching cyclone.
“Although they were aware of the threat, Burma’s state-run media failed to issue a timely warning to citizens in the storm’s path,” First Lady Laura Bush said from the White House.

I choked at the hypocrisy. Isn’t the U.S. government painfully guilty of the same thing? Or have they already forgotten about Katrina?
Thank God the U.S. will have a new administration next year.
