Happy Birthday, Hannah!

Tanking

Posted on Friday, February 25th, 2005

Oh the February blahs are starting to weigh in on me… BLAH!

I am, however, very thankful for this week off school to get some work done. Without it, I’d probably be screwed! I’ve managed to catch up on one of my courses, and I’m in the process of finishing up another. Hopefully by the end of the weekend, I’ll be on top of my business course too.

Speaking of business course, I’m not doing so hot in the stock market competition anymore πŸ™ My stock picks have been tanking over the past week or so, and that has really messed up my portfolio. Despite the poor performance, I am still in the I-really-don’t-care-enough-to-do-anything-about-it phase. Oh well.

In happier news, yesterday was a really fun day! I slept in until around 11:30, hung around the caf chatting for an hour and a half, and did not do a single bit of homework all day long πŸ˜€ Instead, I went up to Conestoga Mall to find a present for Hannah, whose birthday is right around the corner. I had a heck of a time trying to find something, and I came back emptyhanded. I did, however, see some stuff that I’d get for myself haha! For some strange reason, I’ve felt this compulsion to get a topcoat for the past few weeks. I don’t know what triggered it but, when I saw Jasmine’s black wool topcoat, I knew that I had to get one. They’re so hot. Then I saw Constantine, and his full-length coat was pretty stylin, too. Yes, I know I’m weird. Leave me alone.

So after I get back from Conestoga, I went to the first full practice for next week’s Black Forest coffee house. Oh my goodness, everything sounded so much fuller with the bass and drums! I think that it needs some tuning here and there, but it’s really gratifying to see things coming together. Many thanks to Dave and Mike for enduring the agony of practice πŸ™‚ We wrapped up after only two hours (pretty good when the set is going to be around thirty minutes), and I was off to the Embassy Staff meeting. It was a much smaller crowd, but we still had a good discussion.

After the meeting, three of us went out to the Heuther Hotel, and we hung out there for a few hours. Chicken tenders are delicious πŸ™‚ Soggy fries from someone else’s plate, however, are not πŸ™ Steve, Jasmine and I had some pretty interesting discussions; this was due, in part, to Steve’s more-eccentric-than-normal behaviour, which was a good and fairly regular source of entertainment haha. He’s a weirdo, too. But that’s okay. After he got dropped off, we spontaneously went for sundaes at Mel’s. Mmmmm delicious random ice cream. By the time I got home, I was completely pooped, and I probably fell asleep before my head hit the pillow. Awesome.

Before I end this longer-than-expected post, I have a bit of a serious request: one of my friend’s dad is very ill, and I’d just like to ask you to keep her and her family in your prayers. Her dad has been fighting this illness for quite some time now and, as we can all imagine, it has been taking its toll on everyone involved. She would really appreciate your prayers and support, and so would I. And while we’re at it, let’s not forget all of the other people around us that need our prayers. Thanks!

Back in the Loo

Posted on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

So I wrapped up my trip in Toronto in a few short days, and I am back in Waterloo again. I managed to talk to my mom and brother for a bit, and I hung out with a few of my friends from high school. We actually went to see Constantine and, contrary to a number of testimonies that I have heard, I actually thought that it was a good movie. I don’t think that it’s for the religious fanatics (they’d be up in arms!!), but it was a good watch. Thanks to some reduced ticket prices, it was a pretty good deal. Boy, did that movie make me want to get a topcoat even more or what… πŸ™

I also managed to pick up the things that I need for my next hair colour adventure! I might get that done before the weekend is over (depending on whether or not I can find someone to dye my hair), but we’ll see. Oh how I’m looking forward to the agonizing pain of stripping my hair…

Before all that, I have a lot of catching up to do, and a few meetings here and there, and some time set apart to relax with friends. It’s been a pretty crazy term, and I think that it’d be worthwhile to slow it down a bit. Over the course of the past few days, I’ve been playing a lot more guitar.. maybe it’s related to Black Forest coming up really soon, but who knows. I’m still really pumped for that!

And now for some random pieces of information:
1. It’s Hannah’s birthday soon! Yay!
2. A couple of my friends from the Embassy got engaged (to each other) a few days ago! Yay!
3. I’m going to end this post now! Yay!
