They Sure Like to Clap

Last night, I was debating whether or not I should make the trip to campus to work; I knew that I could have been just as, or perhaps more, productive from home than in the lab. Well, it seems like I made the wrong decision. For the umpteenth time in a row (seriously, it has been around 3 weeks), I’ve waited in excess of an hour to get logged into the computer that I use. Chalk up another reason why I don’t like the lab! Oh if only my sweet, sweet laptop will arrive!!
In any case, I’ve had a productive non-work morning. As per usual, I spent a couple of minutes to read the UW bulletin, where I read a tad more about the FEDS elections that are coming up. I also brought along a recent Maclean’s magazine that featured the recent election and some of the blunders and strategies made by the parties. (I had it yesterday, too.) It has been a long (but very good) read.
Speaking of which, I caught a reflection of me with said magazine in hand, dressy coat, non-wild hair, and businessy clothes yesterday. My heart nearly sank; I looked so… old. Is this me now? I suppose that, to a certain extent, this is the result that I have been seeking. After all, I am changing the way I dress, I have made a pretty big change to my hair style (which other people said has really changed the way I look), and I’ve made a commitment to read more. So, perhaps, this is going to be me for the foreseeable future.
Weird.
According to the UW directory, I am in Civil Engineering now. Boo-urns!
That said, it doesn’t appear like I’m listed as a student (which would be indicated as “ENG/CIVE (Civil Engineering)”)… so, thankfully, I have not switched again. 🙂
On a related note, for every day this week, it has taken in excess of one hour to get logged into my computer. Nice to see that UW has got their computing environment together! *grumble*
