Busy busy busy

Posted on Saturday, October 9th, 2004

Well the Embassy Students Association situation is continuing to spiral out of control, and it has been very interesting (and tiring) to be in the thick of it. I’ve always been on the go to make sure things get done as quick as possible (while maintaining quality, of course).. I wrote to one of my fellow executives that time is not an ally in a war of attrition. So sleep has been a bit of a luxury as of late. Please keep praying for this, for those of you who do pray.

Things elsewhere haven’t standing out quite as much.. but I guess that’s understandable since the two things that seem to comprise my entire life are work and the ESA business. But the little time that I have outside of these dealings have been well spent, I think. Aside from a bit of stress beforehand, the Alcatraz Wine and Cheese pre-party went pretty well. The Wine and Cheese itself, while surprisingly short, was also done well.. so kudos to Mr. Rodney on that!

I’m very happy to say that I feel Chapel has been a resounding success so far this term! The number of people who regularly come out is more than I would have thought, and it’s really encouraging to see people getting involved and speaking up and really getting into it. I’ve received a lot of encouragement from people around me, and I thank them all for their support. To Rodney, Pete, Phil, Kat, Miriam, Katie, Andrew, and anyone else that I forgot (sorry!), thank you! 🙂

Anyhow, I should probably be off to attend to some ESA stuff again… and maybe take a nap soon, too! I’ll leave with this little graphic that I found:

Pray Unceasingly

Posted on Monday, October 4th, 2004

Well, as the adage goes, desperate times call for desperate measures. Without going into too much detail and infringing on the little sleep that I get, something very close to my heart is on the verge of getting torn away from me. Me, and hundreds upon hundreds of other people.

The Embassy which you know, if you’ve been reading this for any considerable amount of time, is a very important and influential part of my life, is under attack by the Federation of Students. There has been a lot of history of misunderstanding and miscommunication, but never to the levels that we see now. They’ve revoked the Embassy Students Association’s club status, which translates to the Embassy having no official presence on the university campus. That presents a very significant financial impasse.. seemingly insurmountable right now.

As a member of the ESA executive, and as a member of the Embassy staff team, I’m asking all of you who pray to keep this in your prayers. We need all of the support that we can get.. We won’t give up, because we know that what we’re doing is the right thing. It’s the good fight, and we would be doing everyone else a disservice if we gave up. We meet with the Feds tomorrow. Oh what a day it will be…
