New York Trek

Posted on Friday, September 8th, 2006

Nuts to Star Trek! Check this walk out:

A long walk!

I did that tonight after having dinner with someone I had only met once before and still didn’t really know. (As a rough estimate, I’d peg that between 12 and 15 km.) Hope my legs are okay when I go to the Museum of Modern Art and/or a Broadway show with her tomorrow!

Just One Of Those

I think today is just gonna be one of those days.

Deep, I know.

Sore All Over

Posted on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Oh gosh. This whole working out every day business is going to be the end of me. I couldn’t make it to the gym yesterday because my body was so stiff and sore from the previous days’ workouts, so I’m afraid that I already goofed on my little plan. Nevertheless, only missing one day isn’t too bad, right?

What’s really helping with all of this is my job. Not the work itself, mind you, but being at the Bloomberg building is just ridiculous. Ridiculous in the best way possible. The office is just soo cool!

On (I think) every floor, there are three-sided aquariums with tropical fish. There are no cubicles. Most of the walls (of which there are few) are made of glass. There is crazy artwork everywhere. They have a TV studio right in the building. They have this weird, curved escalator (which is kinda hard to walk down unless you’re paying attention). Everyone has at least two Bloomberg-branded LCD monitors running on a Bloomberg-branded computer using Bloomberg-branded keyboards.

Oh yes, and let’s not forget the biggest perk: free food! It’s not quite like Google with their free meals, but it’s pretty close. At all hours of the day, Bloomberg offers a host of stuff that anyone in the building can take: snacks (chocolate bars, chips, nuts, cookies, etc.), fruit (bananas, grapes, apples, oranges, etc.), vegetables (grape tomatos, snap peas, etc.), breakfast stuff (breads, cereals, oatmeal, etc.), lunch stuff (instant soups, ramen noodles, canned chicken and tuna, etc.), drinks (pop, Snapple, Tropicana orange and grapefruit juice, VitaminWater, coffees, lattes, milk, water, Gatorade, etc.), and probably a bunch of other things that I forgot. MAN!

I have to admit that it’s really easy to stay healthy with all of the fresh fruit and vegetables there. Plus, I always eat a nice, balanced breakfast each morning. That said, it is also very difficult to stay healthy with all of the chocolate and chips and cookies there. But, in this situation, I’d rather have this choice than no choice 😉

Justin hearts Bloomberg!
