Leaving On A Jetplane

Posted on December 26th, 2005

I shouldn’t be up. Yet, I surprised myself by waking up at 3:30am, sans alarm.

And at the same time, I really should be up. Heck, I have a plane to catch in three hours! WAHOOO BC HERE I COME!!! I looked at the weather forecast for the next few days and it’s looking pretty freaking sweet: temperatures slightly below zero and snow/flurries!! More and more, I’m thinking that this is one of the best decisions that I have made this year πŸ™‚

I have a week’s worth of snowboarding, relaxing, and partying and, when I get back, it will be a new year. As per usual, I think that I am going to make some resolutions. While they are almost guaranteed to fail in one way or another, I see no reason to stop making said resolutions because of their likely outcome; I’d rather try rather than give up before any effort is made.

Here are some:

1. I will read more books (at least one every two months). I’m not setting the bar too high on this one, so I’ll be pretty upset if I don’t pull this one off.
2. I will work out often. For the Winter 2006 term, ‘often’ will likely mean five times a week. How this pans out in the summer and fall terms depends on where I am, I guess.
3. I will eat well. More fruits and vegetables, for sure.
4. I will be less cynical and/or sarcastic. This is probably one of the most difficult things that I’m hoping to accomplish, but it’s a necessary goal. Argh.
5. There’s one more, and I can’t think of it right now. But it’s there.

It’s no surprise that these coincide with a recent post that I made about self-discipline… now’s the time to make good on those words and back them up with action.

So, for anyone of you who are making resolutions, I wish you all the best πŸ™‚ Keep me accountable and I’ll keep you accountable. And, to everyone, I wish you all a great new year! See you in a week and a bit! πŸ˜€
