Granol…uh?

Posted on July 9th, 2005

So a few days ago, one of my roommates (Amanda) says to me that I’m into “granola girls.” I had a good chuckle at this because I had never heard of the name before, and it sounded quite ridiculous. She defined it as a person who is very pro-nature and has a grassroots mentality towards life.

Now, people who know me know that this is not a very good description of me; I use lots of chemicals (in my hair, in my food, etc.) and I’m a bit of a technophile. That said, I suppose that I respect those who are considered “granola.” After all, I was a vegetarian for quite a long time, and I’d probably use more nature-friendly products if I could reasonably afford them!

But to clarify my roommate’s statement: I am not necessarily into “granola” girls; nor am I particularly not into them. I am, however, into intellectual, considerate, organized, confident, funny, and responsible girls. That narrows it down, doesn’t it? Bonus points if they’re cute.

    cute comes last??
    that’s impressive. however i have to say i don’t believe you and i don’t agree…
the reason i am writing this is to say is that amanda is a granola girl.. and if she considers herself to be excluded from this grouping then i think she might have to consider that insane quantities of granola and yoghurt that she consumes.. perhaps she is trying to send you a message… maybe she likes non-asian chinese men..?

and i just wanted to comment on your comment from my blog… it’s weird how you can come to the same conclusion coming from very different ideologies and backgrounds…

Heh… I’m going to have do disagree with you on this one; I don’t think Amanda fits the granola label. While she is health-conscious, she also has her share of products that what I think she considers granola would not have.

Care to elaborate on your comment about my comment? I’m not too sure about what you’re trying to say…

And on the first point (going in order doesn’t seem to be my thing tonight…), I will have to note that I never said that cute was last. I just said, albeit in jest, that there would be bonus points if they’re cute. ๐Ÿ™‚ So, that still leaves open the possibility for cuteness to be first (although I will deny this emphatically).

although amanda eats granolaish things, she’s not “granola”. the girl buys a new mascara on an almost weekly basis. ๐Ÿ™‚
